Eleven local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas have been identified by the Regional Joint Security Control Center (RJSCC-6) as areas of concern for the May 2025 midterm polls.

Five of the 11 LGUs were placed under the yellow category (areas with a history of election-related incidents). These include Tobias Fornier in Antique, President Roxas in Capiz, and Ajuy, Lemery, and San Dionisio in Iloilo.

Under the orange category (areas with serious armed threats) are Tapaz in Capiz and Janiuay, Alimodian, Maasin, Badiangan, and San Joaquin in Iloilo.

Meanwhile, 90 LGUs were classified under under the green category (areas with no election-related security concerns).

According to Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director, no areas in the region have been place under the red category (areas with serious armed threats and history of election-related incidents).

The towns tagged as areas of concern were evaluated by the Municipal and Provincial Joint Security Control Centers.

“The list was recommended and approved by the Regional Joint Security Control Center,” said Wanky

“We no longer included Negros Occidental in the list owing to the establishment of the Negros Island Region,” he added.IMT
