All 32 local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, now have fully operational Negosyo Centers, the Department of Trade and Industry-Western Visayas (DTI-6) reported on January 4.
Engiemar Tupas, head of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Unit of DTI-Negros Occidental, said a total of 33 Negosyo Centers have already been established in the province, including the latest 10 this year.
“The Negosyo Center is the face of DTI in the towns and cities,” he added.
Its primary services include business advisory, business registration, business information, and advocacy as well as investment promotion, product development, and trade promotion.
The 33rd Negosyo Center was launched in the municipality of Ilog on December 29.
Tupas said the establishment of the remaining 10 Negosyo Centers is the result of the hard work and commitment of the DTI personnel amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also said earlier the presence of these facilities has positively contributed to the development of Negrense entrepreneurs, and also enabled the DTI to bring its services closer to the people, especially those in the countryside.
Of the 33, two are located in Bacolod. The Negros First Negosyo Center at the Provincial Capitol Complex, the first hub opened in 2015, and the other one at the DTI-Negros Occidental Provincial Office established in 2016.
Republic Act 10644, or the Go Negosyo Act mandates that a Negosyo Center should be established in all cities and municipalities nationwide.
Also among the first that launched their Negosyo Centers are the cities of Kabankalan and Sagay in 2015 and those in Hinigaran town, cities of San Carlos, Victorias, and La Carlota in 2016.PNA
