Four residents of Iloilo City died due to acute gastroenteritis (AGE) caused by contaminated food or water.
The deaths were recorded by the City Health Office (CHO) from July 26 to Aug. 28 this year.
The youngest fatality was a four-month-old baby girl from Zone 2, Barangay Tanza Timawa, City Proper.
The three other fatalities were an eight-year-old female from Zone 6, Calumpang, Molo; a two-year-old male from Rizal Pala Pala 1 in City Proper; and a 31-year-old male from Hibaoan Norte in Mandurriao.
Dr. Annabelle Tang, CHO officer-in-charge (OIC), said two of the four were declared dead on arrival in separate hospitals.
As of Aug. 28, AGE cases in the city have reached 90 and all of them are considered active. Of the number, three tested positive for cholera and 18 are currently admitted in hospitals.
Tang confirmed that the deep wells in areas where the patients reside are contaminated with microorganisms such as E.coli.IMT
