A four-month-old baby boy from the town of Buenavista, Guimaras contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the youngest infected patient in the island province.
The coronavirus-positive infant is aysmptomatic or has not manifested any symptom of the dreaded disease. He is on facility quarantine
According to Mayor Eugene Reyes, the baby had close contact with his 25-year-old father who was diagnosed with COVID-19.
The baby’s mother, however, tested negative for the disease caused by SARS-CoV- 2.
Reyes said the father was already declared recovered after the latter tested negative in a repeat test.
The three traveled to Iloilo City on July 29. They stayed in Rizal Estanzuela, a village near one of the city’s COVID-19 hotpots – Iloilo Fish Port Complex.
The family went back to Buenavista on July 31.
Almost a week after, the father experienced fever and decided to undergo swab testing on Aug. 10. His test result yielded positive for COVID-19.IMT
