Around 400 elite cyclists joined the Philippine National Championships for Enduro and Cross Country Marathon in Guimaras Island, Oct 21-22, 2023.

Dubbed as the biggest cycling event in the country this year, the weekend event featured veteran bikers around the country.

The event, sanctioned by Philcycling and recognized by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), was a World Cup qualifier that featured five challenging stages.

The Enduro Mountain Bike Race was held in Ravina in the town of Sibunag also attracted 200 participants.

Meanwhile, around 200 cyclists have supported the 63-kilometer race for Cross-Country Marathon that traversed the scenic terrain around the island. The race started at Jordan Central School and passed through the towns of San Lorenzo, Sibunag, and Nueva Valencia.

Winners of both races took home cash prizes and a chance to represent the country in various international competitions.

Aside from bike races, visitors were also treated with Guimaras goods and dishes during the Bike Expo: Tech, Trade, and Food Fair at Barangay Ravina in Sibunag town.

The event is part of the thrust of Governor JC Rahman A. Nava to promote Guimaras’ tourism industry under his development agenda dubbed “Kabataan: FIRST”.IMT Sports
