A total of 42,327 job orders and vacancies are up for grabs in the one-day job fair to be facilitated by the Public Employment Services Office (PESO) in Iloilo this Dec. 4.
Francisco Heler, PESO-Iloilo chief, said that applicants shall look forward to an “improved flow” of the job fair to be held at Grand Xing Imperial Hotel here.
In an interview, Heler said the PESO has addressed the concern of applicants and company representatives for a wider space during the job fair. PESO used the Iloilo Provincial Capitol as the venue in its previous job expo.
“We answered the concern that reached us through feedback. The Jade Ballroom (Grand Xing Hotel) is a wider area,” Heler said.
He said 68 companies and 13 Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), 19 overseas land-based companies, and four government agencies which include the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Army, and the Iloilo provincial government, will take part in the job fair.
These companies and agencies open a total of 29,640 job vacancies and 12,687 job orders, he said.
Iloilo-based jobs being offered are online tutors, customer service representatives, nurses, restaurant crew, office staff, drivers, and maintenance personnel.
For jobs abroad, Heler said waiters, engineers, nurses, and plumbers are needed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; plumbers and technicians in Qatar; nurses and physical therapists in the United States of America; nurses and restaurant crews for the United Kingdom; masons, carpenters, and tillers for New Zealand; and scaffolders, welders, and spray painters for Japan.
“There will be eight help desks from our government agencies that will be willing to help applicants on the expo,” Heler said. These include the National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Social Security System, and Philippine Statistics Authority, among others.
Heler assured that companies will prioritize persons with disabilities (PWD) and senior citizens. “They will be given fast lanes, but they do not have to queue. Our company representatives will approach them to make it more convenient,” he said.
He advised applicants to bring an original copy and photocopies of resume, biodata, and certificate of employment.
For those who want to apply for jobs abroad, Heler advised them to bring photocopies of their passports.
As of Nov. 22, Heler said a total of 1,177 applicants pre-registered for the Dec. 4 job fair.
Walk-in applicants may register at PESO Iloilo located at the 5th floor of the Iloilo provincial capitol building here until Dec. 3.
Online registrants, meanwhile, will be accommodated at the official Facebook page PESO-Province of Iloilo.PNA
