Five towns in the province of Iloilo were flooded due to heavy rains caused by the Super Typhoon Carina-enhanced southwest moon.
Based on data from Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), flooding was experienced in 14 villages of Zarraga.
Barangays Jalaud, Baras, Agcuyawan Calsada, Guintas, and Bunca in Barotac Nuevo were also hit by floods.
In Dumangas and Leganes, the heavy downpour flooded Barangays Tabucan and Baras and Barangays Calaboa and Guinobatan, respectively.
Oton also reported flooding in Barangay Poblacion.
A total of 456 families or 2,507 individulas were affected.
According to PDRRMO head Cornelio Salinas, the province, as of July 25, is still in a “manageable situation.”
“It is the judgment call of their municipal DRRM officers to whether or not to evacuate their residents,” he said.IMT
