Six graduates of two Iloilo-based universities topped the September 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT).

West Visayas State University (WVSU) in La Paz, Iloilo City produced five topnotchers while Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST) in Dumangas town, Iloilo province produced one topnotcher.

Carol Ann Awitan, an alumna of ISUFST, ranked eighth in the exam for elementary education with a rating of 93.00 percent. She shared the spot with 16 other passers.

Agape Marie Baguna, a WVSU graduate, placed ninth with a score of 92.80 percent. She shared the spot with 12 other successful examinees.

Krsytal Joy Cuello and Reena Anjella Tabera, graduates of WVSU, ranked 10th with a rating of 92.60 percent. They shared the spot with 28 other passers.

In the secondary level, Tedric Dave Senosa clinched the fourth spot with a rating of 94.00 percent while Yancy Aubrey Panugon ranked 10th with a score of 92.8 percent. The two graduated from WVSU.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), 23,782 elementary teachers out of 50,593 examinees (47.01%) and 53,995 secondary teachers out of 95,969 examinees (56.26%) successfully passed the exam.
