Ninety percent of people in Iloilo City who were infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have defeated the disease, data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed.
As of October 29, the city recorded 3,783 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 3,382 have recovered while two percent or 84 have succumbed to the highly infectious disease.
Mayor Jerry Trenas said the city government is continuously looking for ways and means to flatten the curve.
He is positive that Iloilo City can recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have been fighting a long and tiring battle, but I am proud of how we work together as one. We are united in this battle, and we will end this war together for a brighter Iloilo City for this and the future generations,” he said.
The city is currently under general community quarantine (GCQ), a less strict quarantine status.IMT
