Active cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Iloilo City have now climbed to nearly a thousand.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 36 new cases in the city on Sunday, July 17.
The additional cases brought the city’s total active case count to 800, the highest in the whole Western Visayas.
The city is currently under Alert Level 1, the least restrictive in the government’s five-tier COVID-19 alert level system.
Iloilo province ranked second with 709 active COVID-19 infections, followed by Aklan, 188; Negros Occidental, 111; Antique, 102; Bacolod City, 97; Capiz, 80; and Guimaras 34.
All in all, Western Visayas has 2,121 active cases, which comprise 1.1 percent of the 187,013 confirmed cases in the region since the start of the pandemic in 2020.IMT
