Footballers from Agcuyawan Calsada FC wrapped up the U-16 category of the Mayor JPT New Normal Football competition after snatching the championship title at the La Paz Football Field.
Providing the sparks for the newly-crowned team, Ted Baylon led his team and outplayed Barotac Nuevo’s JCFC in a finale match that went to penalty shootout.
Making a solid performance, Agcuyawan Calsada FC goal keeper Steven Chua was instrumental for the team’s victory, blocking series of kicks from the opponent. Captain ball JL Cananga also managed his role to lead the team in terms of good communication and impressive ball rotations in the entire game.
Cabatuan Football Club ranked third after a 2-1 penalty shootout win over Janiuay DFC.
Meanwhile, Tamasak Football Club of Barotac Nuevo clinched the championship title in the U-19 category with a 2-1 triumph over Sta. Barbara Football Club.
Calinog Football Club got the bronze medal after defeating Leganes via shootout, 2-0, in the battle-for-third place game.
In the men’s division, La Paz Football Club (Iloilo City Sports) captured the championship after handing Jaro Football Club A their defeat via penalty shootout, 2-1, in a scintillating finale.
Cabatuan Football Club also took home the bronze medal after a 3-1 penalty shootout over Ilonggo United in the battle-for-third place encounter.
In the women’s category, Free Kickers Football Club hammered Futbolilits Football Club (Sta. Barbara) in the finals, 1-0. Ilonggo United, on the other hand, salvaged the third place after defeating Guimbal, 1-0.
The Mayor Jerry Treñas New Normal Sporting Event was organized to bring back the various sporting events following its Alert Level 1 status. A total of 46 football teams competed in the 9A-side competition. Ten teams each in the U-16, U-19 and women’s category, while 16 squads joined the men’s division.IMT Sports
