Almost 100 pupils in Iloilo City school feel unwell due to extreme heat

Nearly 100 pupils from an elementary school in Lapuz district, Iloilo City felt unwell due to the extreme heat this dry season.

In a report by state-run Radyo Pilipinas-Iloilo, Jalandoni Memorial Elementary School (JMES) principal Alexis Rivas said 89 of their pupils have been affected since last week.

Most of these pupils, according to the school head, experienced dizziness, weakness and headache during their classes.

There was also a teacher who suffered a nose bleed.

Rivas said they decided to implement starting this week blended learning by holding face-to-face classes in the morning and modular mode in the afternoon.

Last week, the Department of Education (DepEd) issued a momorandum reminding school heads that they have the “authority and responsibility to suspend in-person classes and switch to alternative delivery modes (ADMs) if it is really hot and already affecting the health of our learners and personnel.”IMT
