There are now two confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province of Antique.
Governor Rhodora Cadiao confirmed on Friday, April, 10, the second case of the disease in the province.
The latest COVID-19 patient is a 69-year-old male from the town of Pandan. He is currently confined at the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital.
“He is in stable condition,” Cadiao said.
According to Dr. Mary Ann Soliva-Sta. Lucia, DOH-6 spokeperson, the second coronavirus-positive patient had no close contact with the province’s first patient, a 72-year-old male from Semirara Island in Caluya town.
The patient was first admitted to The Medical City Iloilo (TMCI) on Feb. 20. He was discharged from the hospital on Feb. 28.
He went back to Iloilo City on March 7 for a follow-up check up with his private physician.
On March 30, the patient was admitted to a private healthcare facility in Pandan.
He was transferred to the Angel Salazar Memorial General Hospital on April 3 and was managed as patient under investigation (PUI) for respiratory concerns.
“Contact tracing and active case finding are being done in collaboration with the Municipal Local Government Unit of Pandan and other stakeholders concerned,” Cadiao said.
The whole Western Visayas region currently has 39 positive cases of COVID-19, including 7 deaths and 4 recoveries.IMT
