Mayor Margarito Mission, Jr. of San Remigio town said that the municipal government will tap the tourism potentials of the municipality to boost the local economy that is mainly based on agriculture and livestock production.
“I am happy to inform my constituents that this year, I have more than half a billion budget coming from the national government for road network alone,” he said over the News Network Briefing News, January 19.
He was referring to the allocation from the Department of Agriculture and Department of Public Works and Highways.
The mayor of the Antique’s summer capital town stressed that the local government unit’s main concern is road network infrastructure that will connect the different barangays or communities of the municipality.
“My dream is to make San Remigio as the biking capital of Antique or island of Panay,” the newcomer local chief executive noted with the road concreting projects coming into fruition this year. The idea was inspired by the famous Tour de France in Europe which is a tourist come-on and promoter of the places passed by the race.
Mission added that the best way to lift up the income and social status of the constituents is investment in tourism to provide jobs and opportunities to the residents.
The municipality boasts of its terrific terrestrial views of rolling hills, cool weather, strawberry farm, crystalline lakes, caves and rafflesia or the the biggest flower of the world, among others.JBG/PIA Antique
