Hog farmers affected by the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the province of Iloilo will receive a one-time cash assistance.

Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. said each beneficiary is entitled to P20,000 in cash from the provincial government and the Department of Social Welfare And Development (DSWD).

Of the amount, P10,000 will be provided by the provincial government and the other half will come from DSWD through its Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The towns of Oton and San Miguel, which both have confirmed cases of the dreaded ASF, are currently under a state of calamity.

As of Tuesday, October 25, ASF has affected one village in San Miguel, and 23 villages in Oton.

Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Darel Tabuada said said 122 of the 331 blood samples submitted to DA’s Regional Animal Disease Diagnostics Laboratory tested positive for ASF.IMT
