Boracay Island welcomed at least 5,000 tourists on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, according to the local government of Malay in Aklan.
“Maraming talagang pumasok sa Boracay. Hindi tayo bababa sa 5,000 na bisita,” Mayor Frolibar Bautista said in a radio interview.
The number is still below the island’s tourist carrying capacity of 6,405 per day.
Last month, Boracay reached its target of 1.8 million tourist arrivals for 2023.
Based on data from the Malay Municipal Tourism Office, the island accommodated a total of 1,825, 758 visitors from January 1 to November 7 this year.IMT
