The average coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases per day in Iloilo City declined by almost 20 percent, data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) showed.
From July 1 to 17, CESU logged 1,633 infections or an average of 96 cases daily, lower by 17.96 percent compared to 1991 cases or an average of 117 cases daily in the same period a month ago.
Of the 1,633 cases, majority or 1,240 were locally transmitted cases, 393 were cases from unknown sources, 11 were returning overseas workers, 41 were returning residents, and 23 were authorized persons outside of residence (APOR).
Iloilo City ranked third in the whole Western Visayas. Iloilo province topped the list with 2,625 cases form July 1 to 17 and followed by Negros Occidental with 1,708 cases.
Aklan came in fourth with 1, 596 cases, followed by Bacolod City with 1,572 cases, Capiz with 632 cases, Antique with 517 cases, and Guimaras 165 cases.IMT
