Iloilo City Representative Jamjam Baronda has yet to receive a formal invitation from the Iloilo City Government and the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI) to the Dinagyang Festival this year.

“As of now, daw wala pa invitation, basi next week,” Baronda said in a media interview on Friday, Jan. 17.

The 2025 edition of the festival, organized by IFFI, will climax on January 26 with the Tribes Competition at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand and three other judging areas.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 14, City Mayor Jerry Trenas said Baronda has been invited to the festival.

“I had a bad experience before. I do not want her to suffer the bad experience I suffered before.”

It can be recalled that Treñas, who was then the congressman of the city, was not invited to the festival’s 2019 edition as he was running against the incumbent mayor, Joe Espinosa III.

Last year, Treñas and Baronda decided to end their political alliance due to political differences.IMT
