The House of Representatives has approved on third and final reading the bill that seeks to establish the Iloilo City Hospital.

Of the House’s 300 members, majority or 229 voted on Monday, Dec. 13, in favor of House Bill 10464 authored by Iloilo City Representative Julienne “Jamjam” Baronda.

In a statement, Baronda expressed her gratitude to House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, Majority Floor Leader Martin Romualdez, Appropriations Committee Chair Cong. Eric Yap, Health Committee Chair Cong. Angelina Tan and her colleagues in the House for their support to the passage of the bill.

She said the approval of the legislative measure is an early Christmas gift to the people of Iloilo City.

“We pray that the counterpart measure in the Senate is also passed real soon. We are doing our best to strengthen the healthcare system by putting up our own hospital so that the Ilonggos will have an easy access to affordable and efficient medical care.”

Baronda also thanked Mayor Jerry Treñas, the Sangguniang Panlungsod, the Department of Health and everyone “who helped and threw their all out support towards the realization of this dream.”IMT
