President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and other agencies to step up monitoring efforts to ensure commuter safety and convenience during Holy Week.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced this during a briefing at Malacañan Palace on Tuesday.
Castro said Marcos Jr. also instructed law enforcement to monitor security throughout the period.
“May direktiba po sa DOTr na dapat pong paigtingin ang kanilang pagmo-monitor sa nalalapit na pag-uwi ng mga kababayan natin sa kani-kanilang mga probinsiya,” according to her.
Castro added that the President has ordered strict inspections at terminals, ports, and airports to prevent travel delays ahead of Holy Week.
“Alam naman po natin na may mga pagkakataon na nagkakaroon pa rin, hindi natin maiiwasan na mayroong mangyayaring mga aksyon, mga krimen. At hindi dapat matulog. Iyan po ang direktiba ng Pangulo,” she said.
“Kahit bakasyon ang karamihan, hindi dapat nagbabakasyon ang gobyerno. Patuloy pa rin po ang pagsasagawa ng mga monitoring at ang pagtulong sa ating kapwa Pilipino.”IMT
