What was supposed to be a fun family outing turned into a scary experience after a private jeepney carrying 60 people figured in an accident in Miagao, Iloilo on Black Saturday, April 19.
The jeepney flipped on its side along the national highway at the boundary of barangays Mininila and Dingle.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), six suffered serious injuries while 54 sustained minor injuries.
The victims were brought to a clinic and hospitals in Miagao, San Joaquin and Iloilo City for proper medical treatment.
Based on initial investigation, Miagao police station chief Police Major Richard Lao said the “overloaded” jeepney was allegedly travelling at a high speed.
According to Lao, the jeepney exceeded its seating capacity of 30 individuals, including the driver who was identified as Robert Alemania, 36.
The jeepney from Alimodian was heading to a beach resort in San Joaquin when it figured in the accident.IMT
