A Manila-bound flight from the Iloilo International Airport was delayed on Tuesday, March 4, after a passenger was overheard making a bomb joke.
To ensure the safety of all passengers and crew of of Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 460, authorities conducted security checks before the flight was cleared for departure.
In a statement, the Iloilo International Airport reminded passengers to “refrain from making any jokes or comments that refer to bombs, explosives, or any instruments of violence while at the airport or on board any flight.”
“Your compliance and cooperation will help us avoid any security or law enforcement actions that may delay flights and cause unnecessary inconvenience to all travelers,” it stressed.
The airport management did not disclose the identity of the erring passenger. There is also no information yet on what happened to him or her.
Presidential Decree No. 1727 punishes people who make a bomb joke with up to five years in prison and a fine of up to P40,000.IMT
