Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan has already met its  target of 1.8 million tourist arrivals for 2023.

From January 1 to November 7 this year, the Malay Municipal Tourism Office logged a total of 1,825, 758 visitors.

The figure was higher by four percent compared to 1,759,592 tourist arrivals recorded in the same period last year.

Of the latest number, 1,433,024 were local tourists; 357,066 were international visitors; and 35,668 were overseas Filipinos.

The highest number of tourist arrivals was recorded in April at 213,736, followed by July with 207,696 and May with 207,512.

With the upward trend of arrivals, the local tourism office is positive that the world-famous island will welcome more than two million tourists next year.
