The world-famous Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan welcomed more than 80,000 tourists in the first two weeks of 2024.
The Malay Tourism Office recorded a total of 83,479 visitors from January 1 to 15 this year.
Of the figure, nearly 62,000 were domestic tourists while over 19,000 were foreign visitors.
The latest number of tourist arrivals was higher compared to the same period in December 2023.
In an interview, Malay Mayor Floribar Bautista said they are aiming for 2.3 million tourists this year, higher compared to its 2023 target of 1.8 million tourists.
