A 13-year-old boy died from drowning at the Malagumpit Falls in Barangay Cahigon, Calinog, Iloilo on Good Friday, April 18.
The victim, identified as alias “Xian” of Barangay Masaroy in Calinog, was declared dead on arrival at the town’s district hospital, which is about 13 kilometers away from the waterfall.
Municipal Diaster Risk Reducton and Management Office (MDRRMO) head Rodolfo Valencia, in a radio interview, said Xian went underwater and failed to resurface.
“His companions found him unconscious underwater,” he added.
The victim, according Valencia, was invited by his uncle and other members of their family to go to the waterfall. His parents was not around when the incident happened.IMT
