A big business process outsourcing (BPO) company in the town of Pavia will begin its operation soon, according to Mayor Luigi Gorriceta.
In an interview on IMT Conversations, Gorriceta said the company is expected to generate at least 2,500 new jobs for Ilonggos.
The construction of the call center building in Barangay Ungka II is ongoing.
“It’s the same company that [developed] the IT (information technology) Center [inside Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park in Iloilo City]. They decided to expand outside of the city and they have chosen Pavia,” said Gorriceta.
The mayor is optimistic that more BPO firms will expand their operations in Pavia and provide thousands of employment opportunities not only for their residents but for many other Ilonggos in the province.
“Pavia is an investor-friendly town and we have to maintain that image. Ginaprepare ta man ang aton mga contituents for these future industries like sang BPO industry,” said Gorriceta.
“Naanad kita sang una sa panguma but we have to adopt kon ano man nga mga existing and mga bag-o nga industries. So dapat mapreparar naton sila diri para mabuligan ta sila sang ila pangbuhian,” he added.
Pavia is one of the most progressive towns in the province with all the commercial and residential development. It houses several malls, hotels, and business centers.
It is part of Metro Iloilo-Guimaras along with the whole island of Guimaras, Iloilo City, and the towns of Leganes, Oton, Santa Barbara, San Miguel, and Cabatuan.IMT
