The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) resolved three ties in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) in the province of Iloilo.

The ties involved candidates in Barangay Tiringanan, Janiuay; Barangay Aripdip, San Rafael; and Barangay Talibong Pequeno, Mina.

Electoral Boards (EBs) in the three barangays broke the ties by making those candidates who had the same number of votes draw lots or toss coins.

These methods, according to COMELEC, are allowed under Omnibus Election Code.

COMELEC also resolved cases of tie in Barangay Guiwanon, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras; Barangays San Pedro and Initan, Tapaz, Capiz; and Zone 14A, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

The holding of BSKE in Western Visayas on Oct. 30 “was generally peaceful with no major election-related incidents recorded,” the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) said in a press release.
