The town of Calinog is becoming a preferred investment destination in the province of Iloilo.
Mayor Francisco Calvo said he was delighted by the entry of new businesses into the town.
“Suportado gid namon ang mga investors diya sa Calinog. Ang mga small vendors ta ginabuligan ta man,” he told IMT NEWS.
On Friday last week, Oct. 4, Jollibee Foods Corporation opened the doors of its two-storey store in Calinog.
This is the 178th Jolibee store in the Visayas and the 27th store in Iloilo.
Giant grocery stores Cebu-based Prince Hypemarket and SM Group’s Savomore also opened in Calinog.
These new businesses, Calvo said, provided jobs to their residents.
Asked if there are other companies that expressed interest to expand in the town, Calvo mentioned Puregold Price Club Inc., 168 Shopping Mall, and Mang Inasal.
He said Puregold is currently applying for permits to operate in Calinog.
The mayor also revealed some infrastructure projects that will soon rise in the town.
Calvo said the local government allotted P12 million for the construction of a wet market and a covered court.
Another P5 million has been set aside for the construction of a food court, the mayor added.
Calinog is a first class municipality. It is 58 kilometers away from Iloilo City.IMT
