The town of Calinog in Iloilo province will be placed on lockdown every Sunday for the whole month of April this year.
Mayor Francisco Calvo issued Executive Order No. 30 extending the imposition of “Sunday Lockdown” to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the town.
“Pagapalawigon ang Sunday Lockdown sa masunod pa nga apat ka Domingo magluwas gid lamang kon Makita naton nga may pagbag-o sa dalagan ka mga kaso. Kon magnubo, mahimo naton daya pauntaton sa pinakatemprano,” he said in a statement.
Every Sunday, all establishments in Calinog, excluding those that sell essential products and render essential services like pharmacy and clinics, are closed.
Small stores in villages are allowed to open. However, gatherings and bystanders in the areas are prohibited.
Ambulant vendors are not permitted to sell their products at the town’s public market or anywhere within the area of jurisdiction of the municipality.
Commercial delivery vans form outside from other towns are required to present documents showing that they are in good health. “Documents may either be a health certificate or a rapid test result valid for seven days.”
Calvo appealed to his constituents to strictly follow health protocols and cooperate in efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.
“Nagapangayo ako sang inyo pagbuylog para nga pamauntan naton ang pagrapta sang COVID-19 sa aton banwa,” he said.
The latest EO also ordered the creation of a “Task Force COVID,” which will be composed of one member each from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP) and Municipal Health Office (MHO) and a barangay tanod.
The task force is directed to “reprimand and apprehend the violators.”
Calinog has 26 active cases of COVID-19 based on the April 4 bulletin issued by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).IMT
