The town of Calinog has officially launched its 32nd Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay Festival.
The grand launch was held at the SM City Northwing activity center in Iloilo City on Sunday, Jan. 12.
The festival’s theme this year is “Kulturang Calinognonnl nga may Himpit nga Pagtuo kay Senior Sto. Nino Dalan sa Pag-uswag ka Banwa kag Turismo.”
Mayor Francisco Calvo said they are expecting more visitors to experience the celebration of their “unique” festival this year.
Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay “showcases the tradition and culture of the Indigenous Peoples in Calinog.”
The festival’s opening salvo is set on Jan. 24, and its highlight, the Tribe Competition, is on Feb. 2.
Also one of main events of Hirinugyaw-Suguidanonay is the Search for Linghoron kag Hamtong nga Lin-ay kag Ulitao on Jan. 30.
Calvo thanked all the Calinognons for their cooperation and those who have been continuously supporting the festival.
“Tanan nga dya natigayon tungod sang inyo nga kooperasyon sa aton program.Basta gaburuligay waay gid it impossible. Para sa mas progresibo nga Calinog,” he said.
The grand launching was graced by Iloilo Third District Board Members Jason Gonzales and Matt Palabrica, provincial tourism officer Bombette Marin, and Iloilo City tourism officer Junel Ann Divinagracia, among others.
Calinog is a first class municipality. It is located almost 60 kilometers from Iloilo City.
Aside from the festival, Calinog also boasts of natural attractions like Tala Cave, Ridge Farm, Sule Falls, and Bugsukan River.IMT
