The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has placed the northernmost portion of Iloilo (Carles) under Signal No.1 due to Super Typhoon Pepito.
Based on PAGASA’s 11 a.m. bulletin on Saturday, Nov. 16, Pepito made landfall along he eastern coast of Catanduanes.
The super typhoon was “estimated based on all available data including from Guiuan, Laoang, Masbate, Daet, and Baler Weather Radars in the vicinity of Panganiban, Catanduane.”
It was moving west northwestward at 25 kilometer per hour (kph), packing maximum sustained winds of 195 kph near the center, with gusts of up to 325 kph, and central pressure of 920 hPa.
Pepito is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning or afternoon, Nov. 18.
“Outside the PAR region, the tropical cyclone will turn more westward or west southwestward on Tuesday (Nov. 19),” PAGASA said.IMT
