Budget airline Cebu Pacific (CEB) announced on Friday, July 26, the resumption of its direct flights from Iloilo to Hong Kong and Singapore.
The announcement was made by CEB marketing director Michelle Eve de Guzman at the 33rd Visayas Area Business Conference in Iloilo City.
CEB is set to return its flights between Iloilo and Hong Kong on October 27, 2024 after a four-year hiatus.
The airline company, meanwhile, said it is working on securing regulatory approvals for Iloilo-Singapore flights.
It was in 2020 when direct flights from the Iloilo International Airport to the two overseas destinations were stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, City Mayor Jerry Treñas said the return of international flights would be a big boost to Iloilo’s tourism.
The city is one of the top tourist destinations in Western Visayas. Based on data from the Department of Tourism (DOT-6), it accommodated 886, 283 local and foreign tourists in 2023, the second highest in the region.IMT
