The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) has urged Chinese-Filipinos in the Philippines to remain alert, be aware of their surroundings, and promptly report any suspicious activity to authorities.
“Kidnappings can often be felt before they happen. If something feels off, it should be reported immediately. For example, if a suspicious vehicle is spotted, report it to the police right away and take note of the plate number,” said PAOCC Director Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz during the Meet the Manila Press forum.
Cruz emphasized that threats often precede kidnapping attempts.
“If there are threats, they should be reported too—that’s usually where it all starts,” he added.
He also advised the community to take precautions such as changing travel routes regularly and using different vehicles to avoid being targeted.
“Being cautious and thinking ahead is important,” Cruz stressed.
The warning comes after the recent kidnapping and killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que and his driver. They were abducted in Bulacan on March 29 and later found dead in Rodriguez, Rizal. Their bodies were discovered inside nylon sacks, with their faces wrapped in duct tape.IMT
