The celebration of Christmas in the province of Iloilo this year was “generally peaceful,” according to the provincial office of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Major Rolando Araño, spokesperson of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), said no major incidents were monitored on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
There was also no untoward incident recorded during the nine-day traditional Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi in the province.
Araño attributed the peaceful holiday season to the sufficient number of policemen deployed to public areas.
