The Iloilo Provincial Government officially welcomed the holiday season with its ceremonial switch-on of Christmas lights on Monday, Dec. 2.

The entire Iloilo Provincial Capitol complex is decorated with thousands of colorful LED lights.

The switch-on ceremony was held shortly after the inauguration of the P400-million redevelopment project, which was started under administration of former governor Arthur “Art” Defensor Sr.

The capitol complex, according to Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr., is open to the public.

Maskin wala pa ni aton Christmas lights damo naman daan gasulod diri kag nagapicture picture,” he said.

“Para gid ini sa ila (public),” Defensor stressed.

To maintain cleanliness as well as to protect plants and structures in the area, the governor said the provincial government, through the General Services Office (GSO), would come up with guidelines for visitors.

The switch-on of Christmas lights is a yearly event funded by the provincial government.IMT
