Mayor Jerry Treñas suspended pre-school and senior high school classes in Iloilo City on Monday, Sept. 26.

Enhanced by Typhoon Karding, the southwest monsoon or habagat is forecast to bring moderate to heavy rains to Iloilo City.

The rainfall, which is expected to peak on “Sunday night, Sept. 25, and early [Monday] morning,” will prevail “until late afternoon and evening,” according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

“In this regard, to protect the general welfare of the students in the city of Iloilo, I am suspending classes, from pre-school to senior high school,” said Treñas.

“The Monday flag ceremony is also cancelled for the Iloilo City Government employees,” he added.

The city is not under any public storm warning signal.IMT
