The bottling plant of Coca-Cola Philippines in the province of Iloilo temporarily stopped its operations.

The suspension was “due to the lack of supply of bottlers grade sugar as a result of the ongoing sugar crisis.”

The beverage company posted the announcement outside its plant in town of Pavia on Thursday, Sept. 15.

Coca-Cola’s plants in Davao, Cavite, Zamboanga, Camarines Sur and Bohol also suspended their operations.

Earlier, Coca-Cola and other top soft drinks makers issued a joint statement confirming the sugar supply shortage in the country.

“We are working closely with other stakeholders of the industry and the government to address the situation,” they said.IMT
