The Iloilo City Government has warned residents against using the raw cooking oil spilled by a container truck tha figured in an accident on Muelle Loney Street, City Proper on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 23.

The container truck spilled about 25 tons of oil amounting to more than P3 million after it fell on its side “when attempting to drive uphill at Muelle Loney-Arroyo Bridge.”

Residents scooped out the spilled oil, which affected about 50 meters of the road and 30 to 50 square meters of the Iloilo River.

Engineer Niel Ravena of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) said the spilled oil is “contaminated and unfit for consumption.”

He appealed to the residents to return and not to sell the spilled oil especially to street vendors.

Owned by S & P Trucking Services the container truck also contained 16 tons of assorted goods.IMT
