Authorities have been strictly guarding Iloilo’s borders to prevent the entry of people from other provinces and cities. 

Checkpoints were set up by police officers from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) at entry points of Iloilo on Wednesday, March 18.

People on board private vehicles, motorcycles, buses and other public utility vehicles (PUVs) were denied entry.

The province is currently under a community qurantine due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The imposition of the community quarantine is part of provincial government’s efforts to halt the spread of the dreaded disease.

Under Executive Order (EO) No. 028-C, only “government officials and employees travelling in the performance/pursuit of functions; and medical personnel and health workers/humanitarian workers who shall be performing functions in relation to COVID-19” will be allowed to enter the province.

Seaports in the province are also being monitored by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). 

Roll-on, roll-off (RORO) trips to and from Iloilo were suspended until April 14, 2020.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) announced the suspension of all flights to and from the Iloilo International Airport starting March 18 until April 14, 2020.

Iloilo, according to the Department of Health (DOH-6) remained coronavirus-free.

At present, the province, which is composed of 42 towns and one component city, has nine patients under investigation (PUIs) and 2,638 persons under monitoring (PUMs) for COVID-19.IMT
