Mina, Iloilo Mayor Rey Grabato has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In a radio interview, Grabato said his positive test result came out on Thursday night, Feb. 11.

Grabato’s wife, Municipal Administrator Lydia Grabato, and their driver also contracted the viral disease.

The mayor said they are asymptomatic and currently under strict home quarantine.

According to Grabato, he went to the wake of a former policeman in the town on Feb. 5.

On Feb. 8, the mayor had a gym session in Iloilo City.

Grabato said he had himself tested for COVID-19 on Feb. 10 after feeling unwell.

The mayor’s child also underwent swab test and was negative for SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19.

Contact tracing is ongoing for people who had close contact with the infected patients.IMT
