The Iloilo City Government’s COVID-19 Team is seeing a continued increase in the number of infections among residents.
COVID-19 Team head Dr. Roland Jay Fortuna said the trend of COVID-19 cases in the city is still rising.
On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 54 new cases in the city, the highest in the whole Western Visayas.
This was the third consecutive day that the city logged the highest number of cases. On Monday, Aug. 31, it registered 83 additional infections and 66 on the following day, Sept. 1.
All in all, the city, based on the Sept. 2 bulletin issued by the DOH-6, recorded 1,072 COVID-19 cases and majority of it are indigenous or local.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas called on barangays in the city to continue their support for the battle against COVID-19.
“The improvement of the situation depends on the barangay officials – and that’s the secret in order to improve the barangay. Protocols should be worked on and secured by barangay officials to lessen the cases of COVID-19,” he said. IMT
