The number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas is now at 16.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported yesterday, March 28, three new positive cases in the region.
The additional patients are from Iloilo province, Bacolod City, and Negros Occidental.
In Iloilo province, the patient is a 70-year-old man with no travel history. His history of exposure is still being investigated.
The man is currently confined at a hospital. He has existing diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and diabetes.
In Bacolod City, the patient is a 28-year-old man with a travel history to the United States of America (USA).
On the other hand, Negros Occidental recorded its first COVID-19 case. A 41-year-old woman from the town of E.B. Magalona tested positive for the disease. She had a travel history to Manila.
Of the total COVID-19 cases in the region, five are in Bacolod City, four in Iloilo province, three in Aklan, two in Iloilo City, and one each in Negros Occidental and Capiz.
At present, there are 101 patients under investigation (PUIs) in the region confined at various hospitals.IMT
