COVID-19 cases in Western Visayas now over 100K

There are now more than 100,000 confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Western Visayas.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 736 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, Aug. 27, bringing the region’s total case count to 101,595.

Of the figure, 87,751 have recovered; 2,428 have died; and 11,392 are considered active.

Iloilo province accounted for the most number of active cases at 4,312, followed by Iloilo City (1,468), Negros Occidental (1,379), Capiz (1,086), Antique (949), Aklan (901), Bacolod City (880) and Guimaras (417).

Most or 48.32%of the active cases in the region are identified as mild, 45.29% are asymptomatic, 4.01% are moderate, 2.25 percent are severe, and 0.13% are critical.IMT
