The total confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in Western Visayas has breached the 1,000 mark.

The Department of Health (DOH-6) recorded on Saturday, July 25, 76 additional COVID-19 cases, raising the region’s total infection count to 1,036.

Of the newly reported coronavirus-positive patients, 31 are from Negros Occidental, 25 from Bacolod City, 9 from Iloilo province, and 4 each from Iloilo City and Capiz.

Thirty-one of the new cases are indigenous or local while the rest involved returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

The DOH-6 also registered 26 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 596.
