The number of deaths in Western Visayas due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has crossed the 3,000 mark.
The Department of Health (DOH-6) recorded 40 new COVID-19 fatalities on Friday, Oct. 1, bringing the region’s death toll to 3,031.
Iloilo province accounted for the most number of COVID-19 deaths in the region at 781, followed by Negros Occidental with 539; Iloilo City, 532; Bacolod City, 471; Capiz, 264; Aklan, 193; Antique, 184; and Guimaras, 66.
Meanwhile, the DOH-6 logged a total of 130, 870 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic broke out in March last year, of which 111, 485 are recoveries and 16, 344 are active cases.
Of the active cases, 51.93 percent are asymptomatic, 41.76 percent are mild, 3.96 percent are moderate, 2.15 percent are severe, and 0.20 percent are critical.IMT
