A total of 373 healthcare workers in Iloilo City contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) from Jan. 1 to 22 this year.
Ninety-three of them, based on data from the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), are nurses, 63 are doctors, 30 are medical technologists, 11 are pharmacists, 19 are nursing aides, 15 are rad techs, 5 are admin staff and 148 others.
The two COVID-19 referral hospitals, Western Visayas Medical Center (WVMC) and West Visayas State University Medical Center (WVSU-MC), have the most number of infected personnel.
WVMC has 87 infected personnel including 23 doctors and 28 nurses while WVSU-MC has 60 infected personnel including 20 doctors and 24 nurses.
Other infected HCWs are from Iloilo Mission Hospital (27), Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital (11), St. Paul’s Hospital Iloilo (10) and The Medical City Inc. (10) cases, Medicus Medical Center, (7), Iloilo Provincial Hospital (4), Qualimed Hospital (3), AMOSUP (2), and Metro Iloilo Hospital and Medical Center Inc.(2).
There are also 16 infected HCWs from the City Health Office and 2 from the Department of Health (DOH-6).
Of the infected HCWs, majority or 362 have completed the necessary doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 11 are not vaccinated.IMT
