The Iloilo City Government is planning to establish a traffic academy to “professionalize” traffic enforcers.
Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) head Jeck Conlu said the city’s traffic enforcers will undergo a short course to further enhance their knowledge and capacity to manage the flow of vehicles.
Laws and ordinances related to traffic and proper enforcement procedures, among others, will be discussed to them in a classroom setting.
Conlu said they will tap and partner with religious groups and academe in carrying out the course.
Traffic enforcers must pass the examination or else their contracts will not be renewed. Each will be given three chances.
The city has more than 300 traffic enforcers rendering services in shifts.IMT
