Some 150 farmers, fishers and other agricultural stakeholders of Estancia town in Iloilo province participated during the Agricultural Information Caravan and Technology Forum held on Aug. 14-15, 2019.
Estancia municipal agriculturist, Engr. Edmundo Mendoza, thanked the DA for giving opportunity to the farmers and fishers of the town to increase their knowledge on the latest farming technologies and frontline services of the department and its line agencies that will increase their income.
Spearheaded by the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section (RAFIS) and representatives from the different banner and component programs of the department led in coveying the various programs and frontline services of the agency during the program.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) and National Irrigation Administration (NIA) discussed their agency’s programs, services and interventions in the region.
On the other hand, Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) also presented their Special and Legislated Lending Programs among the participants during the program.
DA has distributed technology guides on rice, corn livestock, high value crops and organic agriculture, and other IEC materials; assorted seeds, seedlings and other advocacy collaterals to those who actively participated in the open forum.
Part of this activity also is the conduct of dog vaccination and rabies prevention campaign, a joint effort of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Local Government Unit of Estancia to intensify the campaign on dog rabies prevention and control in the municipality where a total of 35 dogs were vaccinated in Brgy. Poblacion.
