President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has directed the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the Department of Education (DepEd) to increase the Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) for public school teachers.
Recognizing the crucial role teachers play in molding the Filipino youth, the government aims to raise the SRI for 1,011,800 DepEd employees from the current P18,000 to P20,000.
The SRI is an annual incentive given to government employees in recognition of their dedication to public service.
Marcos Jr. tasked the DBM and DepEd to explore budgetary measures to ensure the SRI increase, while ensuring fiscal responsibilities.
Education Secretary Sonny Angara called the President’s directive a morale booster for the nation’s educators.
“This initiative underscores our shared goal of empowering teachers and reinforcing their critical role in shaping the future of Filipino learners,” said Angara.IMT
