Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has allowed the airport in Cabatuan, Iloilo to reopen to international flights.

In an interview, Defensor said the airport is already prepared for the resumption of direct flights to Singapore and Hong Kong.

Airline companies, however, have yet to schedule their Iloilo-Singapore and Iloilo-Hong Kong flights.

“Wala pa sang airlines nga nag-ayo nga mahugpa diri sang international flights. Buot silingon ang demand siguro sa gwa [abroad], indi pa amo na kataas,” said Defensor.

The airport suspended international flights in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It used to cater to flights to Hong Kong evety Monday and Friday and Singapore every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.IMT
